So Chely Wright is gay? Wow! I had no idea, I mean – I can’t believe it!

Wait, who is Chely Wright again?

Ah, this is her:

“Shut Up and Drive” / Chely Wright (1997)

Have I done this one already? I don’t care. Listen to it again.

“Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor”  / Flight of the Conchords (2009)

I heard this song on the radio this morning. Good times.

Adam Sandler was the shizzzzzz back when I was in about fifth grade. Only the baddest-assed kids were allowed to listen to his comedy album “They’re All Gonna Laugh At You.” Matt S., a classmate who had older brother(s), had by far the most cultural capital: he knew all the words to all of the songs by heart. A cool kid, indeed.

“The Beating of a High School Janitor” / Adam Sandler (1993)

Funky fresh

Like the new layout? I thought I’d mix it up a little, but the jury’s still out on this one.
As soon as I get my thoughts into working order, I’ll write about my weekend. Until then, I’ll summarize:

Thursday: Drive to Minnesota. Dinner with brother n’ fam.
Friday: Drive to Fargo for a day trip. See brother’s recital. Giant group go out for dinner n’ drinks. Good times all around.
Saturday: Lunch with brother n’ fam. Lazy day in hotel. Dinner with brother’s bff. Even more good times all around.
Sunday: Visit brother at work. Drive home.

Actually, that pretty much covers it. A more detailed entry is probably unnecessary.

I once owned this entire album, but it disappeared from my old laptop during the Great Music Loss of ’05. Oh well. Listen, and enjoy:

“Fear of Pop” / Ben Folds ft. William Shatner (1998)

goin on a road trip.

My packing list for Minnesota:

  1. Insect repellant
  2. Snow shoes
  3. Layers
  4. More layers
  5. Minnesotan-to-Missourian dictionary
  6. Sauerkraut repellant
  7. A reserved sense of common decency and neighborliness

On another note, I plan on thoroughly documenting my upcoming trip. My camera will be freshly charged, pen n’ paper always at the ready. I have super-cute scrapbook paper with music notes on it, and I intend to use it, gosh darn it!*

*Unfortunately, this is not a karaoke-themed trip. I’m just going up there to see my brother’s Junior recital.

My brother introduced* me to this band, who are a product of the fine (read: cold) state of Minnesota. I think he knows them? Or knows someone who knows them? I don’t know. Everybody’s related to everybody up there. It’s the Arkansas of the Upper Midwest.**

“Eisenhower is the Father” / Best Friends Forever (2008)

*Ooohhh…not literally. He just gave me the album “Romance Conflict Adventure” to burn onto my laptop.
**Angry Minnesotans (haha, oxymoron!), take heed: I say that with love. Arkansas is surprisingly beautiful, as is your mosquito-infested patch of ice.
